Google gambling advertising launched in Italy

The press service of the Italian National Communications Authority AgCom announced the launch of an investigation into the search giant Google, which is suspected of violation of the state ban on gambling advertising. Relevant activities are already underway for Google Inc, Google Ireland Limited and Google Italy. Company divisions are suspected of advertising foreign online casinos that appear in search results.
It is worth recalling that in 2018, the Italian authorities introduced a complete ban on almost all forms of gambling promotion. These norms are spelled out in the national decree "On Dignity".
Google is believed to have violated Article 9 of the Decree. It prohibits advertising of foreign gambling operators at the top of the search page.
AgCom has previously conducted a study of the activities of the search engine in Italy. It was expected that the authority would close the case, but then opened a new investigation.
