Head of the Ukrainian Gambling Association Anton Kuchukhidze at his press conference summed up the development of the gambling industry in Ukraine for 2020. The expert noted that for the first time in the history of the independent state of Ukraine, the authorities began to solve the issue of legalizing gambling in a civilizational way, taking into account all current trends in European countries.

Kuchukhidze emphasized that this process in Ukraine went quite smoothly, despite the fact that the vast majority of experts, even before the signing of the relevant bill by President Volodymyr Zelensky, were skeptical about the prospects for the development of gambling in Ukraine.

Among other things, the analyst added the creation of a unified gambling regulator to the list of achievements in the legalization of the gambling business. Kuchukhidze is confident that Ivan Rudy, appointed head of the department, will be able to ensure the most transparent and competent process of attracting operators.

The head of the Gambling Association noted that the supervisory authority has already launched a program to protect players from the negative impact of gambling, as well as created a register where all people who are prone to developing gambling addiction will be entered.

The expert also stressed the importance of creating an Advisory and Expert Council based on the regulator. It will include real experts in the field of law, economics and the development of the gambling sector, and not managers of specific companies, as previously assumed.

Kuchukhidze added that the Ukrainian authorities have already established fruitful contacts with foreign investors who are ready to take an active part in the development of the Ukrainian gambling market.
