Goan casinos will resume operations from November 1

Goan Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that local casinos, seven months after their activity was suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic, will resume receiving visitors from November 1st. This order applies to all gambling establishments, including offshore ones.
Speaking to reporters after the weekly cabinet meeting, the functionary said that the casino would be allowed to operate with 50 percent throughput. At the same time, they must necessarily comply with state and central government medical standards.
In addition, Savant gave reasons why the casino was allowed to reopen. They were to promote the revival of tourism activity in the state. Before the pandemic, at least 8 million tourists visited the region annually, but due to quarantine measures, this figure has almost halved.
Currently, there are six offshore and nine land-based casinos in Goa. The former operate on the basis of anchored ferries on the Mandovi River. The latter are located in five-star hotels in the coastal part of the state.
Recall that in Italyclosed completely all casinos.
