Macau has resumed issuing tourist visas

Macau authorities have resumed issuing tourist visas since August 12th. Thanks to this, the Asian casino capital, which has turned into a ghost town during the quarantine, hopes to return players.
Visa issuance will be restored in stages. At the first stage, the process will affect only residents of mainland China. Officials have not announced when foreign tourists will be able to visit Macau.
Due to the Covid-19 coronavirus lockdown, Macau casinos closed their operations for 15 days in February. But even after the gambling establishments reopened their doors, they were practically deserted, as the entry of tourists was prohibited. Experts estimate that casino operators in Macau lose $15 million daily.
In addition to resuming visa issuance, a two-week quarantine for travelers returning from Macau to mainland China was lifted on Wednesday. It should be noted that the number of people infected with Covid-19 in this special administrative region was only 46 people, and not a single death was recorded.
