In Ukraine, they want to introduce a new tax for the gambling business, but the deputies refuse to consider it

The Ukrainian authorities are considering the possibility of introducing a number of amendments to the current Tax Code regarding work of the country's gambling business. This information was confirmed by Daniil Getmantsev, a member of the pro-government Servant of the People faction. According to him, the relevant Committee insists on the introduction of a single tax rate for the owners of gambling establishments.

Today, May 19, the deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine were to consider the relevant bill number 2713. It provides for the introduction of a tax of 10% from gross income for the owner of online casinos and poker tournaments on the Internet. The organizers of slot machine halls, if the initiative is taken, will be required to pay 12.5% income tax to the treasury, and bookmakers - 5%.

In addition, the draft law provides for another type of fiscal norm for all business entities involved in the gambling legislation of Ukraine, in the amount of 18% of the total profit of a particular operator.

Along with this, the draft provides for the exemption from the tax burden of winnings received in the process of participation of a citizen in gambling. They will not be charged both income tax and military tax.

According to Daniil Getmantsev, the authorities managed to achieve a balance in the issue of a unified approach to taxation of representatives of the gambling business without a specific link to the type of activity.

“The current Tax Code establishes different rates for businesses. If for slot machine halls they are 100%, then for online casinos they are 0%. This state of affairs is unacceptable. We are sure that there is an urgent need for a unified approach,” says Getmantsev.

However, during today's session, the parliamentarians decided to exclude this bill from the agenda. 304 deputies voted for it. Consideration of the document was postponed indefinitely.

Recall that the Ukrainian treasuryreceived the first income from the issuance of a new B2B license.
