On September 23, the first meeting of the autumn session of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation was held. On the agenda was a law on tightening control over tax deductions of individuals from income received as a result of winnings in gambling. The document was approved by a majority of votes.

The initiators were the government, which sent it to the parliament for consideration. The explanatory note to the bill states that the adoption of the amendments is overdue against the background of the imperfection of existing legal norms in the field of regulating the process of taxation for personal income tax on income from winnings in casinos and slot machines.

From now on, gambling establishments will be required to enter the details of customers (full name, passport series and number or identification number) who received the corresponding services on checks and forms of strict accountability. According to the authors of the bill, such an initiative will allow the fiscal authorities to establish the identification of a particular person. Based on these data, the tax base will be formed.
