From April 1, 2021, the rules for organizing and conducting gambling in Belarus have changed the Internet. The corresponding decree is published on the website of the Ministry of Taxes and Duties.

According to the new law, only those operators who have received an appropriate license in this country are now entitled to carry out such activities within the Belarusian jurisdiction. Any operation of an online casino to provide gambling services without the permission of the authorities will be severely punished - the addresses of such web resources will be blocked without warning.

Deputy director of Parimatch Belarus, Yulia Leshkova, commented on the legislative changes in her interview: “Based on the latest adjustments, some gambling operators will be forced to suspend their activities within the jurisdiction under consideration from April 1. I believe they will be able to resume work only after fulfilling all the requirements established by the authorities. But in the coming months, this industry should fully recover.”

At the same time, she noted that the Belarusian office of the bookmaker and online casino operator Parimatch had fulfilled all the requirements of the government long before the release of the new decree.

Among other things, the expert noted: “To work on the territory of the Republic of Belarus, a local license is required. This has been known since 2018, when they first entered the gambling industry. This logically leads to the requirement to instantly block all foreign online casino and bookmaker operators who have not settled their issues with the state. To be honest, this practice is used in all regulated markets.”

Yulia Leshkova added that these requirements are quite justified, since they are the foundation for ensuring industry transparency.
