Head of the Ukrainian Gambling Association Anton Kuchukhidze admitted that, despite the imperfection of the Ukrainian gambling legislation, he expects significant growth of this business in 2021. The expert expects a positive effect from the legalization of gambling in the country already in the first half of the year.

He noted that the state treasury began to receive dividends from parties interested in Ukrainian jurisdiction. In particular, Kuchukhidze confirmed the information that about 20 foreign gambling operators have already applied to the Ukrainian regulator for a license. Now their applications are being considered.

Besides, in the well-known metropolitan hotel "Dnepr", as mentioned earlier, a land-based casino will be opened. The corresponding trade mark has already received the corresponding license. At the same time, the area of ​​the hotel for the launch of a gambling establishment was sold under the hammer for a record UAH 1.1 billion.

Anton Kuchukhidze says: “The authorities would hardly have been able to raise their financial requirements so much if it were not for the launch of the gambling market.” The expert also pointed out that a number of gambling companies "have invested a lot of money in renting premises in order to get ahead of competitors for a place in a very promising market."

In parallel with this, the expert again drew attention to the need to make competent amendments to the current tax legislation. The Ukrainian authorities have not yet developed a fiscal policy that will apply to all operators. Kuchukhidze is sure that it is impossible to bring the situation to the point where, after the official adoption of the documents, it will be more profitable for the market to work bypassing the current legislation. He also noted that the existing 18% tax on the gross income of the casino is not at all beneficial for companies, since at such a rate the business simply cannot secure a profit.
